The Mammoth Basin Nordic Backcountry Patrol is a
non-profit organization that helps provide a safe, quality experience
to the wintering public in and around Mammoth Lakes California. As
members of the National Ski Patrol, we take great pride in our commitment
to public service and we place strong emphasis on safety awareness,
as well as encouraging responsible environment usage. Our Patrollers
are able to provide on-the-spot medical skills to those injured, lost
or suffering from the winter environment. Nordic members are also available
for search & rescue missions, as needed, in partnership with other
agencies. |

The Mammoth Basin Nordic Backcountry Patrol was first
founded in 2004. It is the very first non-profit volunteer organization
in the Mammoth Lakes area that is affiliated with the U.S. Forest Service
and registered with the National Ski Patrol system. The Mammoth Basin Nordic
Backcountry Patrol has since become the number one Nordic Patrol in the
Southern California Region for the 2005 winter season. All Nordic Patrollers
are trained in CPR/AED, Outdoor Emergency care (OEC), Nordic Skiing, Search & Rescue,
Winter Survival, as well as Mountaineering and Avalanche Safety. All members
are part of the National Ski Patrol System. |

The Mammoth Basin Nordic Backcountry Patrollers spend a
great deal of time training annually in order to maintain their proficiency
in backcountry skills. We patrol within the Inyo National Forest which
covers over 1,250 square miles of the majestic High Sierra. This area is
abundant with rugged mountain peaks, expansive meadows and beautiful pine
forests. If you are interested in becoming a member or learning more about
the Mammoth Basin Backcountry Patrol, please contact us HERE.
